Disability After Dark

In this episode, I share with you all about my recent trip to Los Angeles where the podcast was nominated as one of the best queer podcasts of 2020 by Queerty. I share with you how I initially didn't want to go due to logistics, the difficulty booking a last minute flight, the hilarity of going down Hollywood Blvd with a commode chair, the inaccessibility of our hotel, what it felt like being the only power wheelchair user at the awards and so much more. In this first in a little miniseries on the show, I wanted to take a deep, deep dive into the question that so many disabled people get asked all the time which is, "What's Your Condition?" So, on this episode, I look at what Cerebral Palsy is; its history, how it is diagnosed and how it manifests in people who live with it. A lot of important info in this one. Enjoy!

In this episode, I sit down with Manny Diaz who shares with us his experiences going from being fully able-bodied to being temporarily disabled from a car accident in 2014, and as a result using crutches for 2 years. We talk about why he chose the term temporarily disabled, how people treated him, how his temporary disability affected both his mental health and his sex life as a gay man, and a whole lot more.
