Disability After Dark

In this episode, I sit down with a researcher from Toronto's Holland Bloorview Children's Rehabilitation Hospital to talk about a new study that she enlisted me and others to help her on, looking at how to talk to disabled kids and their healthcare providers about sex, sexuality and sexual health promotion. A whole lot of questions and conversation arise from this, as we talk about how we can combat ableism in this area, what it's like to put on a study like this, why there aren't more research based discussions on the topic, why healthcare providers might be scared and more! For the three year anniversary of this show, I am so excited to share my very first LIVE episode ever of Disability After Dark. I did a show at Toronto's iconic Masonic Temple with my friend porn star (and repeat guest), Jay Austin. This time around, I look in his eyeballs and ask him "What Would Happen If You Became Disabled Tomorrow?"

In this episode, we review the 2012 independent film "Morgan" all about a gay athlete who gets paralyzed and then falls in love with a non-disabled guy. We explore the ableist tropes in the film and the way sexuality and disability is portrayed... the film is super low budget and super not great.
