In this episode, I talk about the rise of viral promposals where non-disabled people ask disabled teens to the prom in high school or middle school and have it recorded and it goes viral or gets picked up by the news outlets. I share why I think this is problematic in all the ways and why I think we need to reconsider our consumption of "digital ableism" and promposals, and suggest that the disabled person may feel differently about the whole thing, and that the media must also focus on them. I have included some examples of this digital ableism below.
